BNY has expanded its relationship with Circle and will support USDC on its Digital Asset Custody platform. Institutional clients will be able to store and transfer USDC and instruct minting or redemption between dollars and the stablecoin.
The service connects custody with the full issuance lifecycle inside one institutional framework. BNY already serves as a primary custodian of USDC reserves, so the expansion tightens the bridge between reserve assets and onchain circulation.
This is the pattern to watch in institutional stablecoins: traditional custodians are not disappearing. They are integrating digital settlement rails into existing trust, compliance and asset-servicing structures.
