Coinbase says it has secured UK investment-services authorization under MiFID. The approval is intended to let UK users access derivatives and equities alongside crypto through a single platform and login.
The authorization broadens the competitive field between crypto-native exchanges and traditional brokers. It also brings more of the product stack under established investment-services rules, where conduct and reporting obligations are central.
The everything-exchange strategy is becoming tangible: crypto, securities and derivatives are converging at the interface level even while their underlying legal and settlement systems remain distinct.
