The Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Security team has described how coordinated AI agents are being run against real protocol code. The work focuses on triage: organizing findings, testing whether they survive scrutiny and routing useful signals to client teams and researchers.
AI can scan large codebases rapidly, but raw output is not the product. Security value comes from disciplined review, reproducibility and knowing which findings deserve human attention. The Foundation’s account emphasizes that operational layer.
The experiment offers a practical model for AI-assisted defense in open infrastructure. It does not remove expert judgment; it attempts to concentrate expert time on the vulnerabilities most likely to matter.
