Coinbase Institutional’s 2026 market guide argues that professional crypto participation is broadening beyond direct token purchases into a more complex set of regulated products and portfolio strategies.
SECTION // MARKETS
The guide points to exchange-traded products, options, staking, basis strategies and other structured forms of exposure. That shift gives institutions more ways to express views on volatility, yield and relative value while fitting crypto into familiar risk-management frameworks.
Broader access does not eliminate the underlying risks. Product structure, custody, liquidity, counterparty exposure and regulatory treatment can differ substantially even when two instruments track the same digital asset.
The market is therefore moving from a simple access question to an implementation question. Institutions increasingly need to decide not only whether to hold crypto exposure, but which wrapper, venue and operational model best matches their mandate.
