Kraken has launched European-style, cash-settled options on Bitcoin and Ether for eligible professional and institutional clients. The linear contracts settle in US dollars and begin with weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual expiries through a request-for-quote channel.
Spot, futures and options now sit inside one portfolio-margined wallet, with collateral supported in more than 30 currencies. That structure is designed to make volatility and directional strategies more familiar to professional desks while allowing offsetting positions to reduce overall margin requirements.
The initial phase is limited, with European availability planned for the second half of 2026 subject to regulatory confirmation. Kraken also expects later phases to add a public order book and broader asset coverage. The launch is another sign that crypto derivatives are being rebuilt around institutional market conventions.
