Solana Adds Native Subscriptions and Delegated Spending

Solana Adds Native Subscriptions and Delegated Spending

Solana has introduced a shared onchain programme for subscriptions and spending allowances, giving developers a native route to recurring payments and delegated transactions.

SECTION // PAYMENTS

The open-source programme is live on mainnet and supports several payment patterns, including capped one-time allowances and recurring billing arrangements. Users can pre-authorize defined spending conditions instead of approving every transaction individually.

That creates a familiar commercial primitive for software subscriptions, payroll, media, API billing and automated agents. It can also reduce the need for each application to build and audit its own recurring-payment contract.

Delegated spending introduces clear control requirements alongside convenience. Applications must communicate caps, timing and revocation rules plainly, while users need reliable ways to inspect and cancel permissions before they become unwanted liabilities.
